Are There Any Restrictions on What I Can Eat During Invisalign Treatment?
Unlike traditional braces, you may eat whatever you like as long as you remove the aligners before eating! However, prior to placing the aligners back on, it is important to brush your teeth and the aligners after you eat.
How Long Does Invisalign Treatment Take?
Dr. Oz will give you an estimate regarding how long your Invisalign treatment should take, which will depend on your specific needs. The average length of treatment is approximately 12 to18 months. However, some patients may see results far sooner. Remember to wear your aligners exactly as instructed to obtain the best possible results!
Will Wearing Invisalign Aligners Affect My Speech?
Like any orthodontic treatment, there is a short adjustment period. At first, you might talk with a slight lisp, and you may have trouble pronouncing “s”, “z”, and “sh” sounds. That said, the more you speak with the aligners on, the quicker you will adjust!
Is There Any Discomfort During Invisalign Treatment?
There will be some pressure and minor discomfort for a day or two after you advance to a new set of aligners. However, this is a sign that your teeth are moving sequentially into their final position! This discomfort shouldn’t last more than a day or two, but if things are really bothering you, cold compresses and over-the-counter pain relievers can be used.
How Can I Keep My Aligners Clean?
Keeping your aligners clean during treatment is crucial. You can do this by brushing them with a soft-bristled toothbrush and room-temperature water combined with mild dish soap. You should also rinse them any time they come out of your mouth. Invisalign cleaning crystals can also be used. Keeping your aligners clean will help keep your treatment on track by preventing oral hygiene-related setbacks.
What Happens After Invisalign Treatment Is Complete?
Dr. Oz will most likely recommend that you wear retainers following your Invisalign® treatment; this is something that all orthodontic patients must do! Usually, you’ll be instructed to wear your retainer every night indefinitely, but we’ll let you know the specifics. In any case, sleeping with your retainers in at night will ensure a healthy bite and maintain the new position of your teeth.
